Created by Jonah Thompson, a Native Navajo (Dine'), who lives in Arizona, these Native American Indian flutes are ideal starter flutes or just a great flute to take with when you don't want to worry about dinging your collector flutes.
I've had a JT Am Turtle flute since 1995 that I purchased at a Pow Wow in Tucson. It's never given me a moment's trouble. Actually, when I first started making Native American Style flutes, I modeled my early creations after my Jonah Thompson flute.
As a Bonus, the Jonah Thompson flutes comes with his free pamphlet that most other providers of Jonah Thompson flutes do not give you. This little book teaches you the basics of Native American flute playing, both the Native American (minor pentatonic) scale and the relative major scale. Also included in this free book are stories about the Native American flute, songs and a brief bio on Jonah. However, if you really want the most detailed, concise instructions, I feel the best book to learn the Native American flute is "Understanding the Gift" by John Vames This instruction book for the Native American flute comes with a companion CD and is available on my site. (See the links below.)
