Similar to my other Port Orford Cedar Flutes, with a few new "twists". The patterns are burned into the wood using 8,000 volts. Every pattern is unique and somewhat tricky to "control". Never mind the high voltage that can kill while creating the patterns if the craftsperson becomes careless. Dangerous and beautiful, I've enjoyed learning this new-to-me technique.

Created from Port Orford Cedar, named after the westernmost town in the lower 48 states, this Cedar is purportedly the strongest and most dense of the Juniper/Cedar Family. This wood is used on the Northwest coast because of it's durability and indifference to the very humid climate around the area. It has a nice clean look and a full, throaty tone. I like the contrast between the "fractal" patterns and the soft color of the wood. A unique piece that will be treasured and enjoyed for many lifetimes.
