F#m is the most popular key for the Native American flute because it has such a soothing, mellow tone. This flute is also a good size for most hands. If you're just starting out and you want that "sound" you've been hearing and love so much, this is an excellent choice. Just remember to breathe softly into these flutes and you will be rewarded with the sweetest, mellow tone. The flutes that are marked Out of Stock cannot be purchased from me at this time. Created by Jonah Thompson, a Native Navajo (Dine'), who lives in Arizona, these Native American Indian flutes are ideal starter flutes or just a great flute to take with when you don't want to worry about dinging your collector flutes. I've had a JT Am Turtle flute since 1995 that I purchased at a Pow Wow in Tucson. It's never given me a moment's trouble. Actually, when I first started making Native American Style flutes, I modeled my early creations after my Jonah Thompson flute.
As a Bonus, the Jonah Thompson flutes comes with his free pamphlet that most other providers of Jonah Thompson flutes do not give you. This little book teaches you the basics of Native American flute playing, both the Native American (minor pentatonic) scale and the relative major scale. Also included in this free book are stories about the Native American flute, songs and a brief bio on Jonah. However, if you really want the most detailed, concise instructions, I feel the best book to learn the Native American flute is "Understanding the Gift" by John Vames This instruction book for the Native American flute comes with a companion CD.
Note! If you want a specific color for a Jonah Thompson Am flute, please e-mail me with your request for the color that you want (firstname.lastname@example.org). Otherwise, we will ship whatever is in stock. All colors not always available. If I have the color that you want I will ship that specific one to you. Also, please be aware that the Jonah Thompson flutes are "Exchange Only". If you have a problem with a J.T. flute I will be happy to repair or exchange it for you. Only the Laughing Crow flutes and "Affordable Native American Style Flutes" have a "No Questions Asked" exchange or refund policy. Shipping is not refundable in any case.
From Some Happy Owners of Jonah Thompson Flutes
Dear Richard at Laughing Crow Flutes,
Words cannot fully express my deep appreciation for the F#m cedar flute by Jonah Thompson which I purchased from you. The tone is exquisite and produces some of the most beautiful notes I have heard on any other flute I have tried before. I have already composed my first melody, which I will keep personal. I will start saving my pennies now for one of YOUR flutes. Hopefully, you will be able to suggest one for me at that time, for I would fully trust your choice. Finally, I would like to offer my deepest gratitude and echo my Grandfather's words: "Pilamaya mielo!", which is Lakota for "I am deeply thanking you".
Yours truly, Clarence Tac'a An'petui (Sun Deer)
Dear Laughing Crow!
WOW! I was very excited to order my Jonah Thompson flute, but had no idea it would come so quickly!! The flute is even more beautiful than pictured on your website, and the sound (at least to my novice ears) is exquisite! I look forward to doing further business with you as my skills in the NAF grow and blossom, and as I get the "itch" to add to my flute collection.
Thank you, and many Blessings to you!Scott Tignor, LMT Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Practitioner Nizhoni Massage Therapy
Thank you so much for the beautiful flute! I have never had any musical training at all, and I'm finding it very easy to play. I recommend to anyone like myself with no training to buy the book, Understanding The Gift like I did. It has been a great learning tool. The sound is wonderful. I'm looking forward to mastering this one so I can add to my collection! :) This flute is just what I needed. The sounds make everyone feel happy. It fills everyone's hearts to hear it. Thank you so much again. I love it! Traci, Minnesota Hello Richard, I received your flute and it really makes a great practice flute! Very nice! It's also small enough to carry in a bag. I have a 5 hole flute and was looking for a six hole. There are so many beautiful flutes out there, but for a beginner; like me, this flute is perfect. It's very well made for the price and I also enjoy holding it.
