F#m Brazilian Tulipwood Flute With End Caps & Inlays
Tulipwood grows in Northeastern Brazil. The trees are small and finding squares big enough to make flutes with is a challenge. It is a hard wood, like Rosewood. Very heavy and somewhat oily. It makes a great tone wood since it is so dense and hard. The spacers are Walnut and the center pieces of the end caps are Curly Mango. The top is inlaid with marquetry and round Turquoise cabochons. The bird is Rosewood.
This flute has a nice, round, woody tone and plays easily. This particular piece of wood has been drying in my shop for quite a few years, now. It's hard to find and quite pricey. However, it makes a fabulous tone wood and is naturally beautiful.
