Antique Kingwood Inlay
Birds Eye Maple/Kingwood Inlaid F#m Native American Style Drone Flute
This is one of my Birds Eye Maple Drones with a unique twist. I happened upon this gorgeous 45 Degree Kingwood Inlay that was made by Buffard Frères, that was famous during the late 18th and early 19th century. This French company went out of business during the Depression in the 1930's. The inlay is all done by hand, not by machine. The "discoloration" that you see in this wood is entirely natural. It sometimes happens to the Maple heartwood. It truly is a unique piece. Listen to the sound files, below, to hear this flute. Thank you for looking.
